A 21st Century Approach to Peace

The session will explore from a variety of lenses and actors the necessary shifts in approaches, policies and practices to meet the imperatives of a new era. It will build on findings from the global participatory process and consider three angles of the current conflict and peace landscape: Climate change, hybrid solutions in an era of polarization and rethinking mediation in peace processes. The session will bring in speakers from academia, policymaking, civil society and government. Members of the Principles for Peace Steering Committee will provide framing remarks, while members of the International Commission on Inclusive Peace will present the draft Peacemakers’ Covenant.
