The international community has a poor track record when it comes to stopping violence, and even worse when it comes to creating the conditions for lasting peace. The changing nature of conflict and major shifts in the international landscape present new challenges and opportunities for finding lasting solutions. There is an urgent need to rethink and reshape the way the international community understands, designs and implements peace processes. The role of youth in peace processes is increasingly being recognized as a way to strengthen intergenerational trust alongside improving political and social peace that is essential for communities to thrive rather than being ripped apart by violence and distrust.
