Second Youth consultation on responsible leadership with Search for Common Ground – Session 2
Consultation exploring the role of youth in addressing the crisis of leadership
There is growing evidence that peace processes are not fit for purpose. The international community has a poor track record when it comes to stopping violence, and even worse when it comes to creating the conditions for lasting peace. The changing nature of conflict and major shifts in the international landscape present new challenges and opportunities for finding lasting solutions. There is an urgent need to rethink and reshape the way the international community understands, designs and implements peace processes. The role of youth in peace processes is increasingly being recognized as a way to strengthen intergenerational trust alongside improving political and social peace that is essential for communities to thrive rather than being ripped apart by violence and distrust. Join us for this second session of the youth consultation, during which the participants will build on the insights gathered during the first round of discussions.
Engage in discussions with General Roméo Dallaire (Founder of the Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace and Security), Yves Daccord (Former Director General of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC); Teresita Quintos Deles (Lead Convener: Local Ownership and Responsibility Party to the Philippines Peace Agreement on the Bangsamoro & Former Presidential Advisor on the Peace Process in the Philippines) and Ilwad Elman (Lead Convener: Co-founder of Elman Peace and Human Rights Center, Somalia).
