Principles for Peace to Take on the Role of IDPS Secretariat

Principles for Peace (P4P) is pleased to announce that it will take on the role of incoming Secretariat of the International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (IDPS), the only intergovernmental forum bringing together conflict-affected states, donors, and civil society around a shared political table.

The announcement was made in Paris during the OECD INCAF Director Level Meeting, where P4P exchanged with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the g7+, INCAF partners, and the Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS) on how to renew peacebuilding and statebuilding for a more fragmented world.

This marks the first time the IDPS Secretariat will be hosted outside a UN or governmental entity, a significant step in positioning the IDPS for its next phase: broader, more political, and more operational. P4P will oversee the handover of the Secretariat from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at the end of the year.

“We are proud to announce that we will take on the role of incoming Secretariat of the IDPS, and are energised by the partners around the table who will help us take it forward,” said Hiba Qasas, Founding Executive Director of Principles for Peace. “The work ahead is about turning dialogue into delivery. We appreciate the trust of the IDPS co-chairs in enabling us to take this crucial platform forward, and we will work hard to bring new energy and innovation to the table.”

P4P thanks the IDPS co-chairs for their trust, and looks forward to working closely with UNDP colleagues on a smooth handover, as well as with SDC, the g7+, CSPPS, and the wider INCAF community in the months ahead.
