Syria at a Crossroads: Anchoring a Legitimate, Inclusive, and Regionally Integrated Transition
Syria’s transition stands out as one of the few genuine political openings in a region otherwise defined by stagnation and competing agendas. This new policy brief, developed by our Senior Programme and Policy Officer Sahar Ammar, examines the fault lines and opportunities shaping this transition through five strategic considerations:
- Legitimacy as the political engine driving institutional and political choices
- Inclusivity and participation as structural imperatives
- Reconciliation and transitional justice as the foundation of a new social contract
- Recovery as political contract, social dividend and regional opportunity
- Regional alignment as a prerequisite for durable stability
