Somalia: Presentation of the NRF – Advisory Board

The National Reconciliation Framework (NRF) Advisory Board was officially presented on December 3rd in Nairobi, under the leadership of Somalia’s Ministry of Interior, Reconciliation, and Federal Affairs (MoIFAR). The meeting also discussed the NRF implementation strategy. Developed through extensive consultations with Office of Prime Minister, Federal Ministers, Somali Member States, civil society, and international partners, the strategy embodies a participatory and inclusive approach to advancing national reconciliation.

Somalia - NRF Implementation Strategy and Establishment of the Technical Advisory Board

The NRF strategy’s development was informed by a series of stakeholder engagements, including a five-day workshop in Nairobi in July 2024, co-organized with UNDP and the Berghof Foundation. This workshop provided a space for in-depth discussions and featured an AI-powered peace game simulation facilitated by P4P. The simulation tested core components of the NRF and provided valuable insights to refine the strategy. As a result, peace game simulations are now an integral tool in the implementation process.

The December 3rd event, chaired by MoIFAR, brought together stakeholders from the international community and the Somali government, including representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministries of the Interior of Member States. A major outcome of the event was the establishment of the Technical Advisory Board (TAB), tasked with guiding the implementation of the NRF. P4P is honored to be an active member of this board, contributing expertise and strategic guidance.
